CLASS DESCRIPTION
The Musical Theatre Workshop class is a nine week course with classes that meet on Tuesday and Thursday
evening from 7-10pm.
The Tuesday evening class consists of two parts. The first part of the evening consists of the movement section. This includes a physical
warm-up, across the floor work, and the introduction of a dance piece that will be performed at the Final Performance Showcase. The second
part of the evening consists of instruction on proper vocal technique. Each student receives individual attention and instruction (in a
small group setting) on proper breathing technique and proper placement of the voice.
On Thursday evening, each student brings music either of their liking or music assigned by the instructor. Each student will work on two
pieces throughout the 9 week course to be work-shopped in front of the class with the guidance of the instructor. The student will create
a "musical scene" with the help of the instructor to be presented at the Final Performance Showcase.
The current session began on October 2, 2007 and runs through Thursday Dec 6. There will be a one week break in
which the instructor meets privately with each student to review their showcase material prior to performance (these private sessions are
included in the price of the workshop. The final Showcase of this session will be on a Sunday evening at 7:30pm.
The price of the Workshop is $350.00. This price includes two classes per week, the accompanist on Thursday evenings, and the private
sessions between the final class and the final performance. The only thing not covered in the session is the price of sheet music that the
student chooses to perform.
